The 7-8 Buckeyes started the season 0-7 and averaged 1.1 goals per game but turned it around midseason to finish 7-1 while averaging 3.8 goals per game.
They came into the B1G tournament seeded seventh and beat #2 Penn State, 4-3 in OT Wednesday, and #3 Northwestern, 2-1 in OT Thursday evening, to advance to Saturday's final against 12-2 and #1 seeded Michigan, which will be televised live on BTN at noon. Michigan is on a nine-game winning streak.
Ohio State and Michigan were scheduled to play in the season opener but it was cancelled so these two squads don't have the familiarity that comes with having previously played each other.
I am not at all acknowledgeable about field hockey but found myself watching the Buckeyes' two B1G tournament games. Obviously, there are lot of similarities to ice hockey but I also see a lot of on-field commonalities to soccer.
Go Buckeyes! Beat the Blue!
