For the second time in three weeks, the BaseBucks came home denied a single win over the weekend, and again, pitching, especially in the late game, was a major culprit.
Game 1 on Friday pitted Ohio State against #25 Auburn, and the game was never close. The Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the T2, and slowly built the lead until they were able to end the game early, winning 13-0 in 7 innings. Starting pitcher Drew Erdmann recorded the loss, his first on the season.

Saturday's Game 2 against Baylor was at least more competitive. Baylor nabbed a 2-0 lead in the B4 on a 2-run homer. Ohio State responded in the T5 as Maddix Simpson reaching first and brought home Reggie Bussey. Baylor extended their lead with another 2-run homer in the B5. In the T6, Marc Stephens hit an RBI-single to bring home Tyler Pettorini and cut the lead to 2. Then in the T8, Pettorini hit his own 2-run homer, bringing home Lee Ellis, and tying the game at 4. However, Baylor responded with 4 in the B8. Nick Giamarusti hit his own 2-run homer, bringing Bussey home, but it was too little too late as Baylor closed out the 8-6 win. Reliever Hunter Shaw recorded the loss, dropping him to 1-2 on the season.

Game 3 on Sunday was against #9 Oregon State. West coast OSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the B4. In the T2, Mason Eckelman hit a lead off home run, then Giamarusti scored on an error to cut the lead to 2. The Beavers then extended their lead to 7-2 by the B3. Then, Ohio State got going. In the T5, Ellis hit a lead off homer to cut the lead to 7-3. In the T6, the BaseBucks started a 2-out rally. Ellis and was walked, and Pettorini was hit by a pitch, both with the bases loaded, bringing home Stephens and Giamarusti, respectively. Then Matthew Graveline hit a bases clearing 3-RBI double, bringing home Bussey in addition to Ellis and Pettorini, and giving Ohio State an 8-7 lead. Then, in the T7, Ellis was again walked with the bases loaded, but there would be no 2-out rally this time as tOSU settled for a 9-7 lead late. However, pitching again reared its ugly head as the Beavers scored 5 in the B8 to retake a 12-9 lead. Bussey scored on an error in the T9, but again too little too late as Oregon State held on for the 12-10 win. Reliever Luke Carrell recorded the loss, his first on the season.
