With the news of Washington and Oregon joining the conference...
Difficult to wrap one's head around what this is going to look like for basketball. Both schools are solid basketball schools, particularly Oregon. But beyond that, my gosh, conference scheduling is just going to be absurd.
I am very curious as to what the solution is going to be. Go to 17 games and just have everyone do 1-plays? That makes the most sense to me, but still, that would involve some pretty crazy traveling.
I would hate to see it become division-based like football and I am not sure how much that makes sense for basketball. But 18 programs that span the width of the country... yeah, it's a lot.
The regular season conference race has been losing meaning with every conference addition, but now I feel like it really will be diluted. The best option to have it maintain some semblance of import would be 17 1-plays and just try to make sure no one gets to play all their road games against the projected bottom half of the conference.
