It's Not Our Rival Week, and Gameday happens to fall upon all Hallows Eve, kicking off a crazy weekend: First Full Moon on Halloween in 76 years, with the time change Sunday morning at 2 AM. Many thanks to Chief last week for kicking off the 2020 tailgate fair with an incredible recipe for smoked chicken and white sauce.
In the spirit of Halloween, and since trick or treat has been moved to Saturday (thanks hurricane), my wife wanted to do something all the kids would enjoy. So, I present, Mummy Pizzas.
What you need:
1 can Pillsbury crescent dough/pizza sheet
1/3 cup pizza sauce
8 slices mozzarella cheese cut into 8 strips each
pepperoni slices
Italian sausage balls or mini meatballs (for the eyes)
Assembly/Cooking:
Spray a large cookie sheet or pizza pan with Pam. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Spread pizza crust out on a cookie sheet. Pat down and form a rectangle.
Take a pizza cutter and cut a 1 inch wide strip off the long side of the large rectangle. Do it a second time (should have two - 1 inch strips of dough). Then cut these large strips of dough up into 3-4 inch mini strips (these will go on top of the pizzas giving it a mummy look). Then take the cutter and cut the remaining large rectangle of dough up into smaller rectangles (should get about 4-6 total "mini" rectangles, depending on how big you want them to be; these are your pizzas).
Spread pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese (or whatever toppings you like) on each pizza. Now it's mummy wrapping time; Start at the top, lay each small strip across each pizza, overlapping/crossing as you do down. Make sure to leave a little space where your "eyes" should go! Continue to overlap flaps until done. If you run out of dough for the wrapping, open a second can and cut up more mini strips until done.
Place sausage or meatballs (or olives, whatever you want), for the eyes. Bake in preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until pizza dough is golden brown and cooked through.
Should look something like this:
Enjoy!
Go Bucks!
