Ryan Day is one of 21 coaches on the preseason watch list for the Dodd Trophy, which honors a college football coach who is both successful on the field and promotes scholarship, leadership and integrity off the field.
To be eligible for the Dodd Trophy watch list this year, a coach’s program must have an Academic Progress Rate of 980 or better. Ohio State had a perfect score of 1000 in its single-year APR from the 2021-22 academic year.

It‘s the fourth straight year Day has made the watch list for the Dodd Trophy, which first-year coaches are not eligible to win. Jim Tressel became the only Ohio State coach to win the award, which was established in 1976, during OSU’s 2002 national championship season.
