first off, what a great turnaround in the 4th quarter. i thought there were a lot of players worthy of making the list, but this is who i thought played the best throughout the game.
so, I do this after every win this season, where I recapped who I personally thought were the best OSU performers. just initial reactions right after the game finished, not looking at highlights or any sort of replay. whomever jumped off the screen for me.
October 7th (Maryland)
1. Josh Proctor: The best game of his career in my eyes. Other than one scramble by Taulia, Josh was A+. Made some massive tackles, was great in coverage on the back end, laid the boom on special teams and defense, and made a massive play in his pick six. His interception really injected much needed energy today. I was also very impressed with how he was doing well in run support on the edges.
2. Lathan Ransom: Honestly, damn near an identical perfect game to Proctor's. He was hitting hard today, some sure tackling, and chasing their RBs against the edges. I was most impressed by that. We've seen in the past when opposing RBs run towards the boundaries.. our safeties get lost but Ransom was there each time and made the tackle. He had a great interception at a pivotal time in the game, baiting Taulia. Overall, an A+ game and he is having a great season.
3. Marvin Harrison: For the first 3 quarters, Marvin was the only offensive player producing anything. He was the catalyst for the offense in the 4th quarter, making some great long catches and an amazing long 3rd down catch. He made every catch and just had a ridiculous game, as he always does. Made the final dagger TD catch.. twice. bc fuck that ref.
4. JT Tuimoloau: He didnt necessarily wreck the game, but man he made some important plays in big moments. He had a major sack, he blew up a 3rd down RPO or Play Action play idk whatever they ran, and seemed to be setting the edges really well and getting nice pressure.
5. Kyle McCord: Look, he obviously missed some throws early and in the 3rd, but I think it says a lot that a guy, with no help from the run game, can turn it around, make more clutch throws, and keep the ball secure with no turnovers. He started ripping it in the 4th and he deserves credit in my opinion, despite what many think. 19/29, 320 Yards, 2 TDs, 0 int. pretty solid imo.
