A former Michigan linebacker is now “officially” a Buckeye.
Joey Velazquez, who joined Ohio State this offseason as a walk-on after playing at Michigan from 2019-23, had his black stripe removed from his practice helmet on Wednesday.

A Columbus native, Velazquez played six snaps on special teams in Ohio State’s season opener, taking the field as a member of both the kickoff and kickoff return units.
Velazquez becomes the 20th overall player, and the 16th player among them who is new to Ohio State this season, to have his black stripe removed this year.
