Sorry if this was posted elsewhere, but the threads have been all over the place as would be expected. My question is whether teams who get knocked out of the playoffs before the semi-finals get to go to a different bowl game.

I can't imagine many of the lower bowls wanting to take the scraps if they can invite early CFP contenders who don't make it far... All of the hypothetical scenarios would certainly make for an interesting closing season. For example, if Tennessee would lose, then play a non-SEC team that may have been on the outside looking in for the ToeJam bowl or something along those lines...
