Let me start out by saying that I am more of a pessimistic fan. I had to walk away from the Michigan game in the 3rd Quarter because I kept yelling at the TV, "Stop playing to their (Michigan's) strengths". I am torn on this game because the team under Coach Day tends to play poorly in late season big games but he also is very creative given 3 weeks prep time. Having said all that, here are some maybe-not-quite-so-bold predictions:
1. Don't forget your booties, it's going to be cold outside (Groundhog Day reference). Obviously December in Columbus is cold but I am predicting 10-15 degrees below normal. It's cold in Chicago right now and that usually means a cold whole month of December.
2. We will get outrushed by 100 yards. Tennessee is used to playing in cold but not this kind of cold. They are a top 10 rushing team and will stick to the ground.
3. UT will have at least 5 more first downs and lead TOP by 10 minutes.
4. Our Offense will have 3 plays over 50 yards. Maybe it's misplaced trust, but I think Chip Kelly will scheme some plays that are so creative, Tennessee won't be ready to defend them.
4. We will score first. Generally not a bold prediction but we have had some awful starts to games this year. That changes.
5. We will attempt 5+ 4th down attempts.
6. Total turnovers for the game will be 6.
7. There will be a blocked punt
8. The pessimist in me is strong but I believe that Coach Day feels like an underdog and he usually coaches a better game in that case. I believe we pull this off 28-21.
