As we inch closer to the Cotton Bowl against Texas (and hopefully the Natty), I've noticed the number of helmet stickers has been lacking in comparison to prior years.
With the addition of the 12 team playoff, I imagine Ryan Day wanted to slow the progression of helmet stickers knowing that we have more games to play than we did in prior years. However, star players such as Jeremiah Smith or TreVeyon Henderson still had about a quarter of their helmet to go during the Rose Bowl.
If we go back to the 2022 Peach Bowl, we can see that numerous players such as Marv and CJ had both sides of the helmet fully complete. This would of course mean that Ryan Day has slowed the progression as the Peach Bowl was the 13th game of the 2022 season, while the Rose bowl was the 14th game of this season
I also believe the progression was far quicker during the Urban Meyer era as numerous players would have full helmets by the time we played TTUN.
I personally would love to see some players with a complete helmet of stickers by the time we reach the national championship in Atlanta, but it seems like that might be a stretch if TreVeyon still needs a whole quarter to be filled.
I know some people don't like the helmets to fill up too fast, so I'm curious to get your opinions. Would you like to see full helmets by the national championship, or do you prefer the 3/4 full look? Also how do you feel about the changes in progression through the years?
