Post game all the talk is about Captain Jack's scoop & score - and rightfully so. But let's take a minute to recognize a couple less talked about efforts that were crucial to getting us there.
First one. 10:38 to go in Q4. 3rd & 9 from the 41. Gee Scott catches a short pass over the middle and appears to be tackled at the 38 yard line. But somehow he maintains footing and lurches forward to the 34, setting up 4th & 2 instead of 4th & 6. The next play Howard keeps it and runs for the first down. Maybe we still convert on 4th & 6, but the playbook looks a lot different than it does at 4th & 2.
Second is actually on the scoop & score. At the moment Jack recovers the fumble at the 17, Wisner is at the 12 and chasing him. 2 full yards behind Wisner is Sonny Styles. Styles busts his ass to catch, pass, and then get in front of Wisner. Again, even if Wisner catches Jack, we probably still win. Or maybe Wisner pulls a Maurice Clarett and steals the ball back. Sonny made sure that didn't happen.
