Happy Monday, Eleven Warriors!

The Volunteers have been sent home, the Ducks have been cooked and the Longhorns have been hooked. All that remains for Ohio State is a battle with Leprechauns for the pot of gold at the end of the College Football Playoff rainbow next Monday night.

That being said, the campaign to get to this point has hardly taken place without its share of shortcomings. Additionally, the last time Ryan Day and the Buckeyes found themselves in the National Championship, the result was one OSU fans would like to forget completely.

Therefore, This Week’s Question asks of you as a fan: does Ohio State need to win next week for you to consider this season a success?

I should preface my own answer by saying I am quite confident the Buckeyes will deliver the program’s ninth national title next Monday night. However, I was also fairly adamant following the Michigan game that the only redemption of that result relative to the near-future would be Ohio State running the table the rest of the way. That seemed like a tall task at the beginning of December, but even with the way the CFP has unfolded, I feel obligated to stand by that stance.

My expectation is most of the answers to this question will be “no” at the moment, given the good vibes around the team as of this morning. But this fan base is nothing if not a collection of mercurial prisoners of the moment, and should the worst case scenario realize itself next week, I think many attitudes about this season will consequently go sour fast. That’s not to say a majority of folks will start calling for the head coach’s job again, but you can guarantee the contingent of OSU fans that hate Ryan Day more than they love this university — of which there are many — will start shouting from the rooftops again to anyone that will listen.
