I live in Massachusetts and just listened live to the Mike Vrabel press conference introducing him as the new Patriots HC.
In the beginning, he thanked John Cooper as well as Luke Fickell and Urban Meyer.
Vrabel also cited his time this past season as a consultant for the Browns. A funny part of the press conference was when Vrabel talked about how he wanted to also be a mentor for young coaches and help them succeed in the coaching ranks. He said that "it is documented that nobody had a worse first coaching interview with me. It was with Urban Meyer at Ohio State. Fortunately, I got another chance to interview about 8 hours later that day and it went better." I am sure Fickell got him the interview since he was already being retained by Meyer, but does anyone know why the initial interview went so bad? I know that there were stories that when Vrabel worked for Meyer they did not get a long too well.
Finally, none of the press asked press Vrabel if he ever had any desire to coach at OSU. Here is hoping that the Ohio native Vrabel succeeds as Pats HC and the New Hampshire native, Ryan Day, continues to succeed as HC at OSU!
