Lot of people are giving MF shit about the FG attempt down by 16, but I think that was the right call. First, 4th and goal from the 9 is long odds. Then factor in OSU has the best D in the country, the condensed field helps the D, OSU excells in the red zone, and ND's offense isn't all that great, especially in obvious passing downs. Those are seriously long odds.
The argument was it was already a "2-score game," so the 3 points did nothing. Not true. I get football terminology calls 16 points a 2-score came, but you really need to score 4 times. 2 TDs and 2 conversations. And yes, they did get 2 conversations on us, but they would have needed to go 4 for 4 in a spot where OSU is again pretty successful defending. And that only ties the game. By getting the 3, now you need 2 TDs, but you are then looking at extra points for the win.
