This is as much an appreciation thread as it is a question.
In the Ryan Day era we've seen elevated WR play across the program to the point where it feels like records are being set every single season. We've seen the guys like Olave, Wilson, MHJr, JSN all become legends in their own ways. And that's not even mentioning the all time greats at the position from the past like Chris Carter, Galloway, Glenn, Ginn, etc. And then we have a guy like Egbuka.
His current resume:
- 1st all time in career receptions
- Has 2 of the Top 10 seasons for most receptions.
- 2nd all time in career receiving yards
- 7th most single-season receiving yards
- 7th all time receiving touchdowns
- One of two receivers in OSU history to have multiple 1,000 yard seasons
- National Champion
The Mt. Rushmore conversation is frequent on this board and I know Egbuka likely doesn't make it for almost everyone, simply because of the number of ridiculous players we've had at the position in our school's history.
But Egbuka is pretty darn close to being on that mountain. His career is arguably the best for any receiver in school history, or close to it. He bled Scarlet and Gray as much as anyone, was a great person and teammate, and was as reliable as they come on the field.
Where would you put him in the ranks of OSU WRs? It's a tough discussion because he was always overshadowed by some superhuman "once in a generation" type of talent...that we seemed to have every single year.
