I am in awe of our offensive balance and selflessness this year. Even with the high-flying teams with Fields and CJ, or the incredible rushing attacks we've had over the decades, we've never had a season before this one with two 1k rushers AND two 1k receivers. In case you missed it in the National Championship excitement:

Quinshon Judkins rushed for 1,060 and 14 TDs

TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 1,016 and 10 TDs

Jeremiah Smith caught 1,315 yards and 15 TDs

Emeka Egbuka caught 1,011 yards and 10 TDs

I've heard plenty of times about a team hitting one of those, but I couldn't recall hearing about any team hitting both. So I did some digging.

Short answer, yes there has been a team with two 1k rushers and two 1k receivers before. BUT if we add a layer, we are still unique.

The 2016 Tulsa Golden Hurricane had one of their best seasons ever. 10-3, Miami Beach Bowl champs, but didn't even get to play in the American Athletic Conference title game because two of those three losses came in league play. Purely an offensive juggernaut, they ranked #74 in total defense and #76 in scoring defense, but they did have a plethora of weapons.

James Flanders ran for 1,629 and 18 TDs

D'Angelo Brewer ran for 1,435 and 8 TDs

AND

Keevan Lucas caught 1,180 yards and 15 TDs

Joshua Atkinson caught 1,058 yards and 8 TDs

Two things can swing Ohio State back in "the only ones to ever do it" territory -

1. Tulsa's QB threw for "only" 3348 yards that season. Meaning if we make the stat two 1k rushers, two 1k receivers, and a 4k QB, Will Howard sets us over the edge.

2. 2024 Ohio State is definitively the only team in CFB history with two 1k rushers AND two 1k receivers where all four of those players scored double-digit TDs.
