One of the things that many of us have forgotten is that the preseason started out with Bill O'Brien as the offensive coordinator. So, it's interesting to think about where we might have ended up with him instead of Chip Kelly.
I'm not a student of how BOB constructs an offense, but Chip Kelly seemed to understand how to improve our running game. And, in the face of all the offensive line injuries, I'm sure he worked together well with Justin Frye to not only reconstruct the lineup but to also alter the scheme to maximize the positive attributes that each of the subs brought onto the field.
Would we have seen Jeremiah Smith blossom like he did? Would we have seen the ball spread around to so many high-quality WRs? Would we have seen a running scheme that highlighted the skills of Henderson and Judkins? Would we have seen an offensive game plan in the Rose Bowl against Oregon that broke their spines and spirit from the very beginning? And, most importantly, would we have seen Will Howard grow into the CFP Champion QB that he became?
What's everyone think?
