Definitely worth the full half hour listen. Some quick hits (maybe not in order):
- On the players-only meeting:
- Some players lashed out at Day and surprised Burke - "I was like, Oh, snap, this is how we comin'?"
- Came out of meeting with plan to keep playmakers on the field and let them make plays - "all the dogs were on the field, no matter what."
- Attitude from Day changed, as he wasn't going to let anyone detract from the process and mindset they all agreed to; held everyone accountable to a degree that wasn't seen before that loss to UM
- On before and after the first Oregon game:
- Calls were simplified after the loss; players weren't on the same page in October
- Even running zero pressures, they weren't able to get pressure on Gabriel
- On Knowles/LJ Friction
- Burke wouldn't name names, but said the defensive meeting room would get uncomfortable, and only one coach was willing to stand up to Knowles
This is the most candid interview on these topics I've seen.
