Dre’Mont Jones’ time with the Seattle Seahawks has ended after two seasons.

The Seahawks released Jones along with three other veterans on Tuesday in an effort to create salary cap space ahead of NFL free agency opening next week.

After playing defensive tackle for Ohio State, Jones moved to a hybrid outside linebacker role in Seattle. In two seasons with the Seahawks, Jones made 23 starts in 34 games and 77 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and 25 quarterback hits.

Jones’ release comes as he was set to carry a cap hit of more than $25 million for the Seahawks in 2025 after signing a three-year, $51 million contract with the team in 2023. His release saves the team more than $11 million, while Jones – who played four years with the Denver Broncos before signing with the Seahawks – now hits free agency for the second time in his NFL career.
