Quaintance is considered the nation's No. 8 overall prospect and No. 2 center in the 247Sports composite rankings. A reclassified prospect from the class of 2025, he visited Ohio State on Sept. 15.
Chris Holtmann said on Thursday that the Buckeyes' 2024 class was likely always going to be a small one of about two players, and they did sign exactly two prospects on Friday in four-star guard Juni Mobley and three-star small forward Colin White.
If Ohio State was going to add a third prospect to its 2024 group it was likely to be a big, but with Quaintance taking the Buckeyes out of the running for his services, there are no more uncommitted recruits known to have offers from Ohio State.
The Buckeyes currently have the No. 38 class in the 247Sports composite.
