I'm bored at work and trying to kill the last half hour, so in honor of tonight being the first NFL game, I'm going to post my NFL predictions division by division. In full disclosure, I am a Bengals fan. I will try to stay unbiased. Here we go:
AFC East:
1. Patriots (Duh), First Round Playoff Bye 2. Bills 3. Dolphins 4. Jets
This division will shape up to be by far the worst in football outside of the Pats as they cruise to another easy division win.
AFC West:
1. Chiefs 2. Broncos 3. Raiders 4. Chargers
I really like the chiefs defense, and Alex Smith is better than what the Broncos have at QB. The raiders take a step back this year while the chargers remain in the basement.
AFC South:
1. Titans 2. Texans (Wildcard) 3. Colts 4. Jags
Mariota continues to improve as do the Titans. The Texans great defense is wasted on Tom Savage as they squeak out a wildcard spot. The Colts continue to ruin Luck's promising career and the Jags continue to be the Jags.
AFC North:
1. Steelers 2. Bengals (Wildcard) 3. Ravens 4. Browns
The Steelers offense makes up for its lack of a secondary. The Bengals new offensive weapons provide enough of a difference to go 10-6 and steal a wildcard spot. The Ravens defense plays well but the offense dooms their seasons while the Browns marginally improve to 4-12 while using three more starting qbs.
NFC East:
1. Cowboys 2. Giants (WIldcard) 3. Redskins 4. Eagles
The Cowboys win the division again, but the Giants secondary is good enough to get them a wildcard spot. The Redskins and Eagles fall behind.
NFC West:
1. Seahawks 2. Cardinals 3. Rams 4. 49ers
Seattle wins the division despite an abysmal offensive line. A bounce back year from Carson Palmer takes the Cards to second while the Rams and 49ers fight for draft spots.
NFC South:
1. Falcons 2. Bucs (Wildcard) 3. Panthers 4. Saints
The Falcons offense has another strong year. The Bucs sneak out a wildcard as Winston improves due to his new toys, and Cam and the Panthers have a bounce back year but fall just short of the playoffs due to a strong division. The Saints waste another year of Brees' career.
NFC North:
1. Packers 2. Lions 3. Vikings 4. Bears
Rodgers and co. take the division with Stafford and the Lions choking away a playoff spot near the end of the season. The Vikings defense carries the team as their qb struggles doom the season while the Bears put in Trubisky half of the way through the year to find out maybe they shouldn't have spent a king's ransom for him.
For the Super Bowl: Pats run through the AFC playoffs while the Cowboys ride Zeke through the NFC. Pats repeat to the disdain of roughly entire country.
