As some of you might remember, I never even set foot inside the state of Ohio until 2012 (when I was almost 60 years old). Yet I became a diehard Buckeyes football fan thanks to my dad, who graduated in the late 1940s—and who gave me my first 45 record when I was around 7 years old; it was the Ohio State Marching Band!
And I still have vivid memories of standing up at halftime with my dad—watching at home on our TV in the den!—when the Band performed the Script Ohio.
Ultimately, being a fan, I think, is in large part about the bond between generations.
So I was beyond delighted when the MSG Network (which broadcasts Knicks games) reached out to me to film a commercial with a multi-generational angle tied into my Knicks memoir. They filmed it at the schoolyard behind my childhood elementary school and featured my brother’s older son and grandson.
I think MSG Network did a wonderful job with it and, even though its focus is naturally the Knicks, I think/hope it will resonate with many here.
