I recently was wondering about the use of downvotes on the site. IIRC downvotes are only to be used narrowly and not just when there is disagreement. I see many times when downvotes appear to be used improperly.

I found this link which is not working: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/site-stuff/2013/01/on-downvotes. Can the mods direct me to the correct link or perhaps remind all of us of the proper use of downvoting?

For my part I will upvote someone's comment when I feel that downvotes have been incorrectly used even when I might not agree with the comment. IMO downvoting to the point of "cancelling" a comment should be rare.

Your thoughts? Does anyone else do this?
