On this day 47 years ago, the crew of Apollo 11 touched down on the moon. Within hours, Wapakoneta's own Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon, claiming the celestial body for the Great State of Ohio.
Armstrong described the event to a live worldwide television audience as, “one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind.”
