Taylor hughes leads team usA to the gold
Buckeye volleyball star Taylor Hughes has spent the last week competing on the USA Collegiate National Team in the Global Challenge tournament in Croatia. This tournament is similar to the Olympics and is a great experience for college athletes to compete, travel, and experience other cultures. Team USA went undefeated throughout the entire tournament and made it to the championship match where it took down China in four sets. Hughes was a key part in the team's victory. The Buckeye scored point 18 in the final set to give Team USA a two point lead. China only scored one more point after that and Team USA took home the gold medal.

After the win, Hughes was named a part of the All-Tournament team. The now sophomore had an impressive freshman season at Ohio State. She started in 27 games, was ranked tenth in the conference for assists, and was named a part of the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. If you take a visit to St. John's Arena next fall you'll hear the student section chant, "Click, click, boom" whenever Hughes is up to serve, that's how powerful she is. Competing on the Collegiate National Team was great experience for Hughes in preparation for her sophomore season as a Buckeye.
The Ohio State Women's Volleyball team is going to be a force to contend with in the 2016 season. Many of their powerful key players will be returning including Hughes, Taylor Sandbothe, and Audra Appold. Sandbothe is currently ranked second in school history for career solo blocks and she still has one more season left to play with the Buckeyes. Appold was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team alongside Hughes. This Ohio State team is is young, talented, and full of potential. Expect St. John's Arena to be an intimidating place to play next fall.

Even though Team USA took home the gold, Buckeyes were instrumental on both sides of the ball. Buckeye freshman Tre Leclaire of Team Canada had a hat trick by the end of the first half. Another Buckeye, Justin Inacio, scored one for Team Canada.
Ohio State Voted Number One in Collegiate Social Media
It is a long standing fact that Columbus is home to one of the largest fan bases in all of college athletics, and it doesn't stop in the 614. Ohio State fans span all across the country. There is truth in the saying, wherever you go you’ll always find a Buckeye. The incredible fan base proved itself once again in a recent Jumpwire survey that ranked Ohio State number one in collegiate social media. The survey was conducted based off of six different social media outlets in which Ohio State scored a 97 out of 100. The second place team, North Carolina, scored a mere 55 points. That Team Up North landed in an unimpressive tenth place with 32 points. Just count this as another win for The Ohio State University.
