The Ohio State softball team hadn't beaten Michigan since April 28, 2010 — nearly seven years — until today.
The No. 21 Buckeyes downed No. 16 Michigan 5-0, snapping a 21-game losing streak to the Wolverines in front of a record crowd.
The hero of the game was pitcher Shelby McCombs. The junior pitched a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts, allowing just three hits in the game.
The Buckeyes supported her offensively with five runs against one of the nation's top pitchers in Michigan's Megan Betsa, including a solo shot form Anna Kirk and a three-run home run from Ashley Goodwin.
With the win, Ohio State improves to 23-9 and adds to its best start since the 2009 season.
