Ohio State will award a record number of degrees at spring commencement Sunday. 11,734 to be exact.
Among those receiving their diplomas are 162 Ohio State student-athletes, including football players Billy Prices, Tracy Sprinkle, and James Clark, wrestler Nathan Tomasello, synchronized swimmer and Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient Emma Baranski and men's volleyball player Christy Blough – hours after helping his team to its second-consecutive national championship.
Baranski will leave Ohio State as a four-time All-American and back-to-back solo national champion. We caught up with her last month and she's even more impressive out of the water.
Blough captures the Corwin A. Fergus Memorial Award and the Varsity O Scholarship at Ohio State's Scholar-Athlete banquet. He's having a pretty good weekend.
Tomasello was a three-time All-American for the wrestling team, finishing 84–6 in his three years as a starter and capturing the NCAA championship at 125 pounds in 2015.
On the football front, Price, who will start at center for Ohio State this season, was an AFCA First-Team All-American at guard in 2016 and will walk Sunday with a degree in operational management. Wide receiver James Clark will graduate with a degree in finance, while defensive tackle Tracy Sprinkle is set to graduate with after majoring in Consumer & Family Financial Services.
Sunday's ceremony is scheduled to begin at noon and will be streamed online.
