Ohio State smashed its record from 2017 of 93 Academic All-Big Ten honorees in a single semester Wednesday when the university announced 109 Buckeye athletes as the latest wave.
They are apart of 872 conference athletes honored for their winter semester performance. To earn the distinction, athletes must play varsity sports, attend a university for more than 12 months, and post a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Ohio State wrestlers Joey McKenna and Nathan Tomasello, J. Reed McGraw of the men’s swimming and diving team, Stephanie Mavunga of the women’s basketball team and Cheyenne Meek of the women’s swimming and diving team each maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. The Buckeyes tied Michigan State with five student-athletes earning this accomplishment. For the Buckeyes, men’s swimming and diving led the way with 27 honorees while women’s swimming and diving followed with 23 selections. Men’s ice hockey had 15 honorees, followed by men’s gymnastics (14), wrestling (13), women’s basketball and women’s gymnastics (7) and men’s basketball (3).
