This year's U.S. Open, which is set to be played next week (June 14-17) at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, N.Y., will be Grimmer's second appearance in the major, as he also qualified for the tournament out of the Springfield Sectional as a 17-year-old in 2014.
A Cincinnati native, Grimmer finished second on the Buckeyes this past season with a 72.5 stroke average and had five top-20 finishes in 11 events.
