Five current and former Ohio State football players are among the 22 student-athletes who will graduate from the university on Sunday.
Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette, wide receiver K.J. Hill and former Buckeye football players A.J. Alexander, Malik Barrow and Reid Fragel are all set to receive their diplomas during Ohio State's summer commencement on Sunday afternoon at the Schottenstein Center.
Alexander, who medically retired from football after suffering a knee injury in 2017, is graduating with a degree in sports industry. The other four are all communications majors.
Arnette and Hill both receive their degrees after they considered declaring for the 2019 NFL draft but opted to return for their final years of eligibility at Ohio State instead. Both players told Eleven Warriors in February that they consulted with former Ohio State wide receiver Cris Carter, who advised both of them that they should stay in school for their final year of eligibility so they left with no regrets.
Barrow announced earlier this week that he will resume his college football career at UCF as a graduate transfer, with two remaining years of eligibility, after medically retiring from Ohio State with a knee injury last year.
Fragel, who completed his Ohio State career in 2012 and went on to play for several NFL teams, now works as an insurance salesman for Aflac.
The Ohio State football team is now to have eight college graduates on its roster this fall. Arnette and Hill join defensive tackle Jashon Cornell, long snapper Liam McCullough and wide receiver C.J. Saunders as Buckeyes who graduated from Ohio State, while quarterbacks Chris Chugunov (West Virginia) and Gunnar Hoak (Kentucky) and left guard Jonah Jackson (Rutgers) all graduated from their previous universities before transferring to Ohio State.
