More Ohio State athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this year than ever before.
A total of 552 Ohio State athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the 2021-22 academic year, surpassing the previous school record (set in 2020-21) of 527 Academic All-Big Ten honorees.
For spring and at-large sports, 293 Ohio State athletes earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, the most of any school in the conference. They join 140 fall sports athletes and 119 winter sports athletes who previously earned Academic All-Big Ten honors following their seasons.
To earn Academic All-Big Ten honors, an athlete must have been a full-time student for at least 12 months and carry a grade-point average of 3.0 or better. Seven Ohio State athletes from spring and at-large sports were recognized for carrying 4.0 GPAs: David Palmer (men’s track and field), Emily Nothnagle (pistol), Olivia Schafer (synchronized swimming), Leah Sax (women’s lacrosse), Margaret Livingston (rowing), Tess Thompson (rowing) and Aziza Ayoub (women’s track and field).
A total of 53 athletes from the rowing team earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this spring, the most of any Ohio State sports team this year (football was second with 46 academic all-conference selections in the fall).
