The July recruiting period is one of the busiest times of the year for Division I college basketball, and Ohio State in particular. Extending offers to four new prospects in the last week, the Buckeyes are looking to add to what appears to be a promising future for Ohio State hoops.
Let's take a look at the four prospects Ohio State is making a move on.
Matthew Hurt (6'8 SF - Minneapolis John Marshall - 2019):
One of the top overall prospects in the 2019 class, Hurt received an offer from Thad Matta on Tuesday, after the Ohio State head coach visited him in Minneapolis. At 6-foot-8 and 170 pounds, Hurt has similar size to Gahanna's Jordan Mitchell, whom the Buckeyes offered earlier in the year to kick off recruitment for the 2019 class.
Hurt has more than 10 offers already, as Ohio State joined the likes of Florida, Oregon, UCLA, Wisconsin and Xavier. Hurt has tremendous length, blocks a ton of shots, while running the floor and finishing with reckless abandon, in addition to a sweet stroke from the perimeter. A five-tool wing prospect that can do a little bit of everything, Ohio State is looking to get on board early with Hurt, who appears to be one of the more polished prospects up to this point in the 2019 class.
Jericho Sims (6'8 PF - Minneapolis Cristo Ray - 2017):
Ohio State was busy in the Minneapolis area this past week, as Sims also added a Buckeye offer. A long 6-foot-8 combo forward, Sims is a three-star prospect ranked at No. 146 in the country, according to Rivals.com. Sims has close to 25 offers, with programs ranging from the mid-to-high major levels, including the likes of Clemson, Florida and Oregon. Still looking for a wing to compliment Kaleb Wesson in the 2017 class, Sims is a possible option for the Buckeyes on the perimeter.
Courtney Ramey (6'3 PG - Webster Grove, MO - 2018):
A big guard out of Missouri, Ramey added an Ohio State offer last Friday, as the Buckeyes are among 17 other schools vying for his service. A four-star guard ranked in the top 60 in the 2018 class, according to Rivals.com, Ramey has been a prime target among various high-major programs, as Texas, Florida, Illinois and Texas A&M, among others, have extended scholarship offers. An athletic guard that attacks well off the bounce, Ramey has extended range on the perimeter, as he creates well off the dribble.
Jahvon Quinerly (6'1 PG - Hackensack Hudson Catholic, NJ - 2018):
A four-star point guard out of New Jersey, Quinerly received an offer from Ohio State a week ago. Quinerly is a big-time scorer, who has deep range from behind-the-arc, as the Buckeyes like his ability to not only facilitate at the lead guard spot, but score when he needs to. Enjoying a strong AAU season, Quinerly has added 13 offers since the end of April, from the likes of UConn, Xavier, Notre Dame and Stanford, among others.
