Ohio State is in the running for the son of a basketball legend.

Kiyan Anthony, whose father is former NBA star Carmelo Anthony, included the Buckeyes in his top six schools released Thursday along with Auburn, Florida State, Rutgers, Syracuse and USC.

Anthony is ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 5 shooting guard in the 2025 class. He attends Long Island Lutheran High School, the alma mater of former Ohio State center Zed Key.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, Anthony ranks 11th in scoring in this year’s Nike EYBL, averaging 19.6 points along with 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.8 minutes per game for Team Melo, an AAU team sponsored by his father.

Syracuse is the perceived frontrunner for Anthony, as that’s where his father became a college basketball legend – leading Syracuse to a national championship in his only season of college basketball – before going on to a 19-year NBA career in which he was a 10-time All-Star and scored 28,289 points, the 10th-most in league history. A sure-fire first-ballot Basketball Hall of Famer, Anthony was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.

That said, Jake Diebler and his staff have given Ohio State at least a puncher’s chance in the race for Anthony, who would make a standout addition to the Buckeyes’ 2025 class. Cleveland’s Dorian Jones, another four-star shooting guard, became the first member of Ohio State’s 2025 class when he committed to the Buckeyes earlier this month.
