PORTLAND, Ore. — Following Ohio State's 73-58 loss to Arizona in the third-round of the NCAA tournament, Buckeyes' star freshman D'Angelo Russell sat in front of his locker to field questions from reporters.
Russell just had one of his poorest shooting performances of the season against the Wildcats, going 3 for 19 from the floor, as Arizona rotated defenders on him all night and made things extremely difficult for the talented 6-foot-5 guard.
Some of the questions that came Russell's way were about that poor effort, but others were more in regards to a far more interesting subject: his future.
Russell is projected by many as a top-five pick in the upcoming NBA Draft should he choose to declare. But following the game, Russell, as expected, as mum on his decision.
"No comment," he said.
Russell finished with just nine points, seven rebounds and six assists against the Wildcats, but had a fabulous freshman campaign which saw him be named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and earn several first-team All-American nods.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the NBA Draft is April 26.
