It wasn't pretty (at all) but the Buckeyes got back to .500 on the young basketball season with a 67-54 win over Northern Illinois thanks to a well-rounded effort by Jae'Sean Tate, Keita Bates-Diop and center Trevor Thompson. Tate and Bates-Diop each recorded double-doubles while Thompson fell two rebound shy.
The Huskies, 7-1 entering the contest, struggled to find any rhythm offensively and were hampered by a number of early fouls (they finished the game with 25 personal fouls) and although they kept it close, couldn't overtake a late push by Ohio State.
