On paper, Ohio State's home opener against North Carolina Central should have been over relatively early. The Eagles remained within striking distance throughout, however, and the Buckeyes used a nine-point run to take charge in the second half of Monday's 69-63 victory.
Junior forward Jae'Sean Tate scored 21 points — one shy of a career-high — and pulled down nine rebound, while freshman center Micah Potter finished with 13.
Ohio State shot just 46 percent from the field, made only 6-of-21 attempts from behind the arc and shot 11-for-23 at the charity stripe.
The Buckeyes continue their five-game homestand against Providence on Thursday. Tip-off at Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
