Ohio State rebounded from a stunning upset to Florida Atlantic to knock off Connecticut, 64-60, at Value City Arena on Saturday night.
Forward Trevor Thompson led the way for Ohio State, scoring 17 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench. JaQuan Lyle and Jae'Sean Tate chipped in 16 and 13, respectively, to help the Buckeyes improve to 8-2 on the season.
The game was tied at 54-all at the final media timeout when Thompson hit a pair of free throws to give Ohio State a two-point lead. The Buckeyes forced a turnover and then Lyle added six free throws of his own to put the game out of reach late.
The Buckeyes will be back in action next Saturday, Dec. 17, against second-ranked UCLA. Tip-off of the CBS Sports Classic in Las Vegas is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
