Ohio State is trying to add a guard to its roster for the 2017–18 season.
It won't be Howard graduate transfer James Daniel III.
Daniel committed to Tennessee on Monday, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. The nation's leading scorer in 2015–16 picked the Volunteers over the Buckeyes, DePaul and others.

Daniel played in only two games last season due to an ankle injury, but led the nation in scoring two years ago at 27.1 points per game. As a graduate transfer, he is eligible to play immediately next season for Tennessee.
Ohio State currently has just two scholarship guards on its roster for next season in C.J. Jackson and incoming freshman Braxton Beverly. The Buckeyes are also awaiting news from Kam Williams, who has until Wednesday to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and retain his final year of eligibility.
