Chris Holtmann's new staff of assistant coaches will make north of $1 million combined, a slight bump in salary from the previous staff under Thad Matta.
Ryan Pedon will be the highest-paid Ohio State assistant coach and will make $395,000 per year. Mike Schrage will make $325,000 and Terry Johnson will make $300,000. All numbers are a result of an open records request filed by Eleven Warriors and filled Friday by Ohio State.
The total combined salary for the Buckeyes' three new assistant coaches is $1.02 million. By comparison, under Matta, Ohio State's previous staff of Dave Dickerson, Chris Jent and Greg Paulus made a combined salary of just over $734,000 last year.
All three new assistant coaches signed two-year term sheets which run through June 30, 2019. All are eligible for compensation increases beginning Sept. 1, 2018, as approved by the board of trustees.
Additionally, all three assistants are also entitled bonuses should Ohio State win the Big Ten (8.5 percent of base salary), make the Final Four (8.5 percent) or win the national title (15 percent).
Formal contracts have not yet been finalized. Term sheets signed by all three can be seen here: Johnson, Pedon, Schrage.
All assistant coaches will also receive a stipend worth $600 per month for a car, four season tickets to Ohio State football games and eight season tickets to Ohio State basketball games.
Holtmann recently signed his eight-year contract as Ohio State's next coach. He is set to earn $3 million per year and the deal features some hefty buyout language. Details of Holtmann's contract can be found here.
