Two Ohio State commits – D.J. Carton and E.J. Liddell – and signee Alonzo Gaffney were named to the 2019 Naismith High School Boys’ Watch List on Thursday morning.
The three prospects, who make up the Buckeyes' 2019 recruiting class, are among the 50 players who made the cut. Ohio State joins Florida and Villanova as one of just three college teams with at least three players on the watch list committed or signed.
Carton, the No. 24 prospect in the nation, is a five-star point guard from Bettendorf, Iowa. He is the second-ranked point guard in his class. Gaffney, who signed his letter of intent on Wednesday, is the 39th-ranked player and the second-ranked player in Ohio. He is spending his senior season playing for Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. Liddell, who is expected to sign his letter of intent on Thursday, is the No. 48 overall prospect in his class. The Belleville, Illinois, prospect is the top player in his state.
Ohio State also had three players – Kierstan Bell, Kaelynn Satterfield and Rikki Harris – named to the 2019 Naismith High School Girls’ Watch List. Ohio State is the only school to have three committed players on both the boys' and girls' watch lists.
