The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s events with an ear on the ground for what’s next.
GARRETT COMFORTABLE ANYWHERE ALONG THE DEFENSIVE LINE
The Buckeyes added a major piece to their 2017 recruiting class last week when Las Vegas four-star Haskell Garrett committed to Ohio State out of the blue.
The 6-foot-2, 280-pounder from Bishop Gorman is likely a three-technique defensive tackle in college, but he's lined up all over the field for the Gaels and says he's comfortable any spot on the line.
"I’ve moved all over the defensive line," Garrett told Eleven Warriors. "I was a defensive end (as a sophomore) and I was a three-technique as a junior, next year I may be a one-technique. It depends on what we do every week, it changes a lot."
According to the country's fourth-ranked defensive tackle, there are opportunities to change the game no matter where he lines up.
"They all have their benefits, their pros and cons," he said. "I prefer the three-tech because you can play with the guard’s head a bit, you can slide inside and go A-gap and force the center to help, or I get a one-on-one with the guard and if I beat him, then the quarterback is right there. If you do your job, you can decide a game."
SHAUN WADE MAKES TRIP TO FLORIDA
Ohio State 2017 commitment Shaun Wade, who picked up an offer from Alabama last Thursday, made a trip to Florida on Friday and then spent the weekend with his 7-on-7 teammates in Davenport, Florida at the Pylon 7v7 tournament.
Following the tournament yesterday, the Jacksonville five-star talked about his relationships with Ohio State with Scout.com analyst Corey Bender.
From Scout.com:
"I'm 100-percent with Urban Meyer and Ohio State," Wade told Bender. "I love all the coaches, I talk to them 24/7, everyday."
Florida is often viewed as the school that is the biggest threat to the Buckeyes and his recent visit to Gainesville introduced him to the new defensive backs coach for the Gators. Torrian Gray, who recruited him for Virginia Tech before taking the job with Florida, could be an impact hire for Jim McElwain and he's no doubt going to make Wade, the country's 12th-ranked player, a priority.
EXAMINING JALEN MAYDEN OFFER
Earlier today, we discussed some names that were worth looking at if Ohio State offered another 2017 quarterback. Tonight we're going to look at 2018 and the third quarterback in that class to have a Buckeye offer, Sachse, Texas' Jalen Mayden, the younger brother of 2016 cornerback offer and Alabama signee, Jared.

Mayden, 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, has five early offers including the one from the Buckeyes, and will be one of the country's top players at the position among juniors-to-be.
Ohio State's Tim Beck has been involved early with Mayden, who threw for 2139 yard and 30 scores as a sophomore. He also rushed for 550 yards for the Mustangs, one of East Texas' top programs. He joins Pennsylvania's Phil Jurkovec and Auburn commitment Joey Gatewood as 2018 quarterbacks with an Ohio State offer.
MARCHIOL HAS BUCKEYES IN TOP FIVE BUT NOT HEARING MUCH FROM OHIO STATE
One of the earliest 2017 linebacker offers extended by the Buckeyes was to Engelwood, Colorado's Santino Marchiol, who–prior to his recent transfer to the IMG Academy–was lighting up the opposition at Cherry Creek High School.
Since his arrival at the Florida-based prep school, Marchiol has picked up a handful of major offers; adding LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Cal to a list that now numbers 28. He's enjoying the transition to IMG
"I love it out here (at IMG)," Marchiol told 11W. "It's an amazing opportunity."
With all the attention college coaches pay to the Ascenders' program, it's not a surprise that the 6-foot-2, 225-pounder has added to his offers list. However, Marchiol–who is being recruited by Luke Fickell and Tony Alford–says he has not being hearing as much from the Buckeyes as he had before.
"I'm still hearing from them," Marchiol said. "But not as much as I'd expect. They're still in my top five, but I'm surprised (there's been less communication)."
The country's 17th-ranked outside linebacker and a friend of Ohio State commitment Jake Moretti, Marchiol made two trips to Columbus last year: a June visit for a one-day camp with the Buckeyes and a return in November when the Scarlet and Gray hosted Michigan State.
