The Hurry Up is your nightly dose of updates from the Ohio State football recruiting trail, keeping tabs on the latest from commits and targets from around the country.

A LOT TO DIGEST

Today was quite eventful, wouldn't you say?

In case you missed it, Ohio State quarterbacks coach Tim Beck moved on to Texas, the Buckeyes hired Ryan Day as his replacement and starting cornerback Gareon Conley decided to turn pro.

So what do these have to do with recruiting?

A lot, considering my mentions since Saturday's 31-0 loss to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl have consisted of nothing but upset fans thinking Ohio State's second-ranked recruiting class is going to crumble from beneath itself only a month from national signing day.

Honestly, the overreactions are priceless following a loss.

While Beck played a significant role in landing players such as linebacker Baron Browning, quarterback Tate Martell and cornerback Shaun Wade, let me put it to you simply: Ohio State is bigger than one assistant coach.

We knew head coach Urban Meyer would overhaul the offense, just like he did to the defense following the Buckeyes' last loss to Clemson. It would probably hurt more from a recruiting standpoint had the staff remained intact, which is why Meyer has been upfront with a number of commits about the changes.

“I already knew [about Beck]. I'm all cool with it,” five-star junior quarterback Emory Jones told Eleven Warriors. “I just have to talk with the new coaches and see how I feel, and just see how the offense does next season.

Four-star wide receiver commit Tyjon Lindsey said Beck's departure could be a big deal, but acknowledged changes needed to be made on offense after the no-show in the desert.

“He's a really good guy and it'll be a tough loss, but we'll get through it,” Lindsey told Eleven Warriors. “There's always room for getting better. I mean, the offense obviously needed a spark.”

Ohio State is also reportedly set to hire former Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson as offensive coordinator, which sits well with five-star offensive tackle Josh Myers.

“It's always tough seeing a coach I like leave,” Myers told Eleven Warriors, “but at the same time, I like coach Wilson a lot and it's exciting to have him on staff.”

MIGHT NEED AN EXTRA CLOSET FOR ALL THE TROPHIES

The aforementioned Martell was named MaxPreps National Player of the Year earlier tonight after accounting for 3,619 yards and 62 touchdowns to lead Bishop Gorman to its eighth-consecutive state title and third-straight national championship.

It marks the third national honor for Martell, who was also named the top player in the country by Gatorade and USA TODAY Sports last month.

MaxPreps also revealed its All-American teams, where Martell was joined on the first-team by future teammates Wyatt Davis, Chase Young, Haskell Garrett, Myers and Wade.

Four-star safety target Bubba Bolden was also named to the first-team defense, while five-star cornerback target Darnay Holmes made second-team defense. They'll make their announcements during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
