Every weekend in the fall, thousands of high school football teams line up and take their shot at prep glory. The Sunday morning Prep Tracker is your final stop for the names, numbers and scores that mattered to Ohio State's recruiting efforts.

ROLLING RIGHT ALONG

Of Ohio State's 14 commits in the 2019 class, 11 enjoyed victories Friday.

After a 3-0 start where they outscored their opponents 91-35, Garrett Wilson's Lake Travis Cavaliers did nothing to hurt their No. 2 ranking in the state of Texas Friday night.

Wilson, a five-star receiver and Ohio State commit, aided Lake Travis to a 51-13 win over Akins with three first-half touchdowns; two receiving scores including a 57-yarder on the first play, and a 93-yard kick return. Despite sitting out the third and fourth quarters with a big lead, Wilson still finished with three catches for 78 yards and three total touchdowns.

Wilson told the Austin American-Statesman he's been looking for a kick return touchdown.

“I’ve wanted to run one back all year and that was only the second time all year they’ve kicked it to me, and both of them were tonight. If you can score on the first play, you want to do that every single day. We wanted to take care of business.”

Meanwhile in Roswell, Georgia, running back Steele Chambers scored a pair of early touchdowns in a 45-3 win. Chambers, who committed to Ohio State this past April, helped Blessed Trinity Catholic improve to 5-0. The two touchdowns give him 13 this season.

On the east coast, DePaul Catholic (Wayne, N.J.) fought off an upset bid from Delbarton, earning a 35-28 win in overtime. Ronnie Hickman, who committed to the Buckeyes in April, logged three touchdown receptions from eight, 15 and 18 yards. The 18-yarder came with 3:18 left in regulation to tie the game and force overtime.

In Indiana, 6-foot-1 running back commit Sampson James led Avon to a 33-0 win over Fishers. James carried the ball 21 times, gaining 65 yards and scoring twice. He now has 791 rushing yards and nine trips to the house this season on 126 attempts.

Craig Young
Ohio State commit Craig Young caught six passes for 75 yards and a score in Friday's win.

Three-star athlete Craig Young (Fort Wayne, Ind.), who's committed to Ohio State as a linebacker, caught six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown to lead his Generals past Fort Wayne Snider by a 21-7 final. Young's receiving totals now sit at 437 yards and nine touchdowns on 21 receptions. According to the Journal Gazette, Snider was 40-5 all-time against Wayne before Friday night.

Also earning wins were offensive guard Doug Nester (Huntington, W. Va.), quarterback Dwan Mathis (Oak Park, Mich.), offensive tackle Ryan Jacoby and defensive end Noah Potter (Mentor, Ohio), tight end Cormontae Hamilton (Memphis, Tenn.) and safety Bryson Shaw (Potomac, Md.).

SUFFERING SETBACKS

Buford center Harry Miller (Buford, Ga.), Lexington linebacker Cade Stover (Mansfield, Ohio) and St. Thomas Aquinas safety Jordan Battle (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) weren't as fortunate as their future teammates.

Miller's Wolves fell 48-24 to Archer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and Stover's Minutemen lost a 42-17 to Wooster. Battle's Raiders had a high-profile matchup Miami Central, where they suffered a 43-27 loss. Battle and St. Thomas Aquinas' defense allowed 284 yards passing and gave up Central quarterback Maurice Underwood to score four times on the ground.
