ALREADY PAYING DIVIDENDS

If you were wondering whether Jameson Williams' stock is rising or falling after committing to Ohio State, take his performance this past Friday as a prime example.

The newest Buckeye commit and Cardinal Ritter's (St. Louis, Mo.) best receiver had a career night in a 40-35 win over St. Francis Borgia, catching nine passes for 286 yards and five touchdowns ... those are actual statistics.

From the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

After showing glimpses of their big play ability, but having few points to show for it in a frustrating first half, the lethal quarterback-wide receiver duo of Mekhi Hagens and Jameson Williams finally got going for Cardinal Ritter in an AAA Large Conference game at Borgia.

The duo connected for five touchdown passes, including three after Borgia cut the Lions’ lead to one in the third quarter, to power Cardinal Ritter to a 40-35 victory.

Hagens finished 17-for-27 passing for 363 yards with the six touchdowns and an interception. Williams, an Ohio State recruit, finished with nine catches for 286 yards for Cardinal Ritter (7-0, 3-0), No. 3 in the STLhighschoolsports small school rankings and No. 3 in the Missouri Media's Class 3 poll.

If you do the math, Hagens completed more passes to Williams than all of his other receivers combined. Williams went for nine, 286 and five while his fellow receivers went for eight, 77 and none. Williams now has 32 catches for a ridiculous 630 yards, 19.7 yards per catch, and nine total touchdowns.

JUST WIN BABY

After rushing for 228 yards in Week 6, Lexington (Ohio) running back Cade Stover put Friday's game on ice with a game-winning 51-yard touchdown run. Stover's Minutemen beat West Holmes by a 34-33 final. The Buckeyes are, of course, expected to use Stover as a linebacker but there's no doubt he's shown his speed over the past two weeks.

Stover was just one of Ohio State's 13 2019 commits to get a win.

Depaul Catholic (N.J.) running back Ronnie Hickman caught touchdown passes of 19 and 71 yards and his team's 52-6 victory, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) safety Jordan Battle picked off a pass and ran a punt back 40 yards to set up a score in a 38-6 win, and The Bullis School (Potomac, Md.) safety Bryson Shaw had six receptions on offense for 69 yards and a score.

Up front, offensive linemen Harry Miller (Buford, Ga.), Doug Nester (Huntington, W. Va.) and Ryan Jacoby (Mentor, Ohio) also aided their teams to wins. Miller's Wolves scored on four plays of 50 yards or more, Nester's Timberwolves led 42-0 at halftime and Jacoby's Cardinals enjoyed a 45-6 win, scoring four times in the final five minutes of the first half.

Also of note, Jacoby's teammate Noah Potter, a Mentor defensive end, forced a fumble with a strip-sack that led to a score.

Other Ohio State 2019 commits to see their team win were Lake Travis (Texas) receiver Garrett Wilson, who sat out with injury but should be back next week, Blessed Trinity (Ga.) running back Steele Chambers, Oak Park (Mich.) quarterback Dwan Mathis, and Whitehaven (Tenn.) tight end Cormontae Hamilton.

Only two '19 commits suffered a loss Friday ... Wayne's (Ind.) Craig Young and Avon's (Ind.) Sampson James. Young caught three passes for 35 yards and a touchdown in the loss while James rushed for 99 yards on 21 carries.

HUBBARD BACK FROM INJURY

While fellow teammate and Ohio State commit Jack Miller has held down the fort in his absence, Chaparral (Az.) running back Darvon Hubbard certainly looked healthy in his return from injury this past Friday. In a 40-37 win over O'Connor, Hubbard rushed for 153 yards on 23 carries. Meanwhile, Miller passed for six touchdowns in the Firebirds' victory.

Speaking of injuries, IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) safety Lejond Cavazos sat out this past week with a hip injury. His Ascenders won 34-7 and Cavazos says he'll be OK.

Ohio State's top-ranked 2020 commit Paris Johnson Jr. helped St. Xavier (Cincinnati, Ohio) bounce back with a 42-7 win over La Salle. The Bombers scored on plays of 32, 10, 46, 50, four and 66 yards. It was a win St. Xavier desperately needed, according to coach Steve Specht.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

“This is huge for us, it’s a huge momentum booster,” he said after the win, where he finished with a 292.6 passer rating. “It shows who we are in 2018 for first time. We’re just gonna go from there.”

Offensive lineman Luke Wypler (Montvale, N.J.) saw his team fight hard in a loss while fellow lineman Jake Wray (Marietta, Ga.) enjoyed a win Friday. Wypler's Green Knights had 349 total yards in a 24-20 loss to Bergen Catholic while Wray's Blue Devils posted 551 in a 36-14 win over North Paulding.
