Since committing to Ohio University on July 27, 2018, Pickerington North tight end Tyler Foster has taken just one other visit, coming this past weekend at Ohio State.
Foster, a three-star 2019 tight end and Ohio's No. 72 overall prospect according to 247 Sports, described the visit as "a great experience." At 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, before committing to Ohio, Foster had offers from 22 different schools including Tulane, Akron and Ball State.
"I really enjoyed meeting with [Ohio State tight ends] coach [Kevin] Wilson, and getting to talk to coach [Alex] Grinch again," Foster told Eleven Warriors. "It was also amazing getting to personally meet with coach [Urban] Meyer before the game. It was cool to go in the locker room after the game and listen to the players and coaches talk. The facilities were amazing."
Even so, Foster is still very much committed to Ohio coach Frank Solich and company.
"My verbal commitment to Ohio has not changed before or after my visit to Ohio State," Foster said. "I have developed a very close relationship with the entire coaching staff at OU, and coach Solich has built a great winning tradition in Athens. I also like the facilities a lot and the campus is beautiful."
Foster said he took quite a few visits to Power 5 schools before his commitment, including trips to Purdue, Michigan State, Boston College and Northwestern. However, Ohio State has made, arguably the biggest impact on him other than OU. He still talks to members of the Buckeyes' coaching staff, as well as current players, quite regularly.
"I talk to [Ohio State freshman] Alex Williams regularly. We played together at Pickerington North and he is a good friend of mine who is a part of the OSU 2018 class," Foster said. "I also talk to and text coach Grinch because he recruits central Ohio."
While Solich and the Bobcats are certainly still in the lead for Foster, don't count the Buckeyes out just yet. It's recruiting, where anything could happen and, as Foster said, he has a former teammate and a member of the coaching staff who he talks to regularly.

As Foster continues to build a relationship with Ohio State, he'll also be focusing on the remainder of Pickerington North's schedule. The Panthers are currently 5-3, but still have a chance to make the playoffs should the beat their final two opponents, Lancaster and Gahanna Lincoln.
"We have played a very tough schedule, and we are currently fighting for a playoff spot in Division I," Foster said. "All three of our losses were very close and to very good teams. I really do believe that we can compete with any team in the state when we are playing our best ball. I'm very confident we will win our last two and get to play in the postseason."
