When coaches were allowed to get back on the recruiting trail in person in mid-January, Ohio State extended a plethora of offers to recruits in various classes at a rapid pace, even giving out as many as nine scholarship offers in one day.

Once the contact period ended in late January, the rapid offers slowed considerably. However, some are still being handed out in the quiet period. Most recently, OSU extended an offer to 2024 Michigan tight end Brady Prieskorn on Saturday, making him the second tight end the Buckeyes have offered in the sophomore class along with four-star Landen Thomas

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Prieskorn has 10 Division I offers, including Ole Miss, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Florida State, Memphis, Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State. He does not yet hold a 247Sports ranking. Prieskorn helped lead Adams High School (Rochester, Michigan) to a 14-1 record last season.

Kirkland to visit OSU in spring

One of Ohio State’s top priority targets at offensive tackle for the 2023 class will be taking another visit to Columbus later this spring. Four-star Florida offensive tackle Payton Kirkland told Eleven Warriors Monday he plans on coming to Ohio State for a spring practice in either March or April. It would be the third trip to Columbus for Kirkland, who first visited OSU in late July for the Buckeye Bash & BBQ, then returned in November for the Michigan State game.

Kirkland currently has a top seven of Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan, Georgia, Miami, Penn State and Clemson. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound prospect will likely take all five of his official visits before making a decision, and those visits could all come during the summer. He told Eleven Warriors he has spoken to offensive line coach Justin Frye recently and plans to continue doing so.

"Coach Frye and I are getting to know each other and our backgrounds," Kirkland said. "He's a very down to earth coach."

Kirkland is ranked as the 200th-best prospect nationally and the 16th-best offensive tackle, per 247Sports’ composite rankings. Other top targets for Ohio State at tackle include Luke Montgomery, Samson Okunlola, Chase Bisontis and Olaus Alinen

Kasper puts OSU in top 10

One of Ohio State’s 2023 wide receiver targets is getting closer to making a decision. Arizona wideout Kyler Kasper narrowed his school list down to 10 on Saturday, with Ohio State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Georgia, USC, Oregon, Arizona State, UCLA and Miami all making the cut.

The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Kasper was offered by Ohio State on Nov. 4. If Kasper chooses Ohio State, it would make back-to-back classes with the Buckeyes signing a wideout from Arizona after they signed Kyion Grayes in the 2022 recruiting cycle. Freshman quarterback Devin Brown, who is also from Arizona, is among those attempting to recruit Kasper to Columbus.

Last season, Kasper racked up 51 catches for 943 yards and nine touchdowns for Williams Field High School (Gilbert, Arizona). Kasper is an Iowa legacy; his father, Kevin Kasper, was a former wide receiver for the Hawkeyes who went on to play in the NFL.

Buckeyes miss cut for Hill Jr., Smith

Ohio State appears to be out of the running for two players it offered in the 2023 cycle: five-star linebacker Anthony Hill Jr. and three-star defensive lineman Stantavious Smith. Both players released top schools lists on Monday that didn’t include the Buckeyes.

Hill Jr., a Texas resident, put out a top-six list that includes Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Miami, and USC. He’s considered to be the ninth-best prospect and the top-rated linebacker in the 2023 cycle. Where linebacker recruiting is concerned for the 2023 class, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles seems to be zeroing in on four-star Louisiana linebacker Tackett Curtis as his No. 1 target

Smith’s top 10 consists of Louisville, Kentucky, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, Jackson State, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Nebraska and South Carolina. He is ranked as the 528th-best prospect and the 66th-best defensive lineman in the nation and received an offer from Ohio State in February 2021.
