One of the top cornerbacks in the 2025 class was humbled to receive an Ohio State offer earlier this month.

Four-star Georgia prospect Devin Williams told Eleven Warriors he had a productive visit to Columbus on April 7 and was impressed by how OSU’s defensive backs looked.

“It went great,” Williams said of his visit. “I got to sit in the cornerback meetings with coach Tim Walton. I love Coach Walton and the way he coaches. I love the way how he handles players. He talks about tough love, he’s gonna love you, but when he gets on the field he don’t play around. Also the brotherhood that they have there and the campus was just amazing.”

This far in his recruitment, Williams has picked up 25 Division I offers. He was thankful Ohio State became of those schools after Ryan Day extended him an offer at the end of his visit.

“It felt great to be offered by coach Ryan Day,” Williams said. “I just felt elite after that, hearing I got the offer. He said he cares about family a lot and he just wanted to see how my family and I were. After that, he gave me the offer.”

Williams said he and Walton have communicated a good amount both before and after his visit, and that he has a keen interest in Ohio State.

“They’re definitely up there,” Williams said of where OSU ranks in his recruitment. “Especially after the visit.”

OSU is recruiting several of Williams’ high school teammates at Buford High School (Buford, Georgia), including five-star prospects KJ Bolden and Eddrick Houston. Williams said he’s spoken with Houston about OSU.

“I’ve talked to Eddrick about Ohio State, and he’s told me that he loves it,” Williams said. “It’s definitely going to be a top choice for him.”

Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Williams is considered the 55th-ranked prospect and the fifth-rated cornerback. He helped lead Buford to an 11-1 record last season.

“Definitely everyone would say my speed, but I think I have really good deep ball skills,” Williams said describing his best on-field attribute. “My ball skills down the field in coverage, that’s what I love about my skill set.”

Williams said he plans on returning to Columbus in the fall to attend a game later this season.

Dennis to visit Montgomery Friday

Ohio State will be visiting one of its top quarterback targets in the 2025 class on Friday. OSU quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis plans on visiting four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery at Findlay High School Friday, per his father, Mike Montgomery. Michigan made a stop at Findlay to check in on Montgomery on Thursday.

Montgomery visited OSU twice this spring, including for the Buckeyes’ spring game Saturday.

"The visit was great,” Montgomery said after the visit. “It was very surreal being able to see my brother all geared up and playing for the first time in the shoe. That was really cool. I spent most of the morning leading up to the game with Coach Dennis and Coach Fitch. I also talked with Coach Day after the game. They are really going to start ramping up my recruitment and they all showed again I’m a priority."

Heinrich working on setting up OSU official visit

On Saturday, Ohio State landed its first tight end commitment of the 2024 class in four-star prospect Max LeBlanc. But the Buckeyes are still in search of a two-tight end class for the current cycle. One of their remaining targets, three-star prospect Colton Heinrich, is working to set up an official visit to OSU, per 247Sports

Heinrich picked up an offer from the Buckeyes on April 1 after visiting Columbus. OSU’s other top remaining tight end prospect is four-star Ohio tight end Damarion Witten.
