Ohio State has seen its 2024 recruiting class shrink by one.
Four-star Florida running back Jordan Lyle decided to stay close to home after all, flipping from Ohio State to Miami on Monday.
Lyle had been committed to Ohio State since April 29, but Miami stepped up its pursuit of the Fort Lauderdale product in recent weeks. The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect is the second commit the Buckeyes have lost to the Hurricanes within the last month, as five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott also flipped to Miami in late November.
With Lyle's departure, Ohio State is down to 21 commits total in the 2024 cycle and two running backs: James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon. Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Lyle is considered the 144th-best prospect and the 12th-best running back in the 2024 class.
Considering Miyan Williams has already declared for the NFL Draft, TreVeyon Henderson could also do so and both Chip Trayanum and Evan Pryor have entered the transfer portal, OSU could add another running back via the transfer portal in either of the winter or spring windows to provide more depth for the 2024 season.
