Hollywood script writers couldn't have come up with a better Ohio State origin story.
When Mylan Graham attended an Ohio State recruiting camp in June of 2022, few analysts were keeping an eye on him as a prospect to watch. But Brian Hartline had his full attention on Graham. Graham, unranked by every recruiting service at the time, earned an Ohio State offer after a dominant performance that day. The offer was his first Division I opportunity, a rarity for most prospects to get a Buckeyes offer before any other school.

In the months that followed, Graham's recruitment blew up, and he eventually became a five-star prospect. He always remembered the Buckeyes giving him his first offer, though, and committed to OSU in April. One of the biggest reasons for his OSU commitment was the ability to be under Hartline's tutelage.
“The more I work with him, the more I understood that it was the best decision for me possible,” Graham said of Hartline. “And I know the more I work with him, the better player I can be. Every experience I’ve had with Coach Hartline, whether he's came to my school or I've worked out in front of him or something like that, on the phone, it's always been a good experience. He's always teaching me some knowledge or things like that. And it really just poured into me the more I wanted to come here because I had really a great bond with him.”

Once Graham committed to OSU, he held a relatively drama-free recruitment through his signing of his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, despite other schools trying to get him to visit.
Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Graham is considered the 23rd-best prospect and the seventh-ranked wideout in the 2024 class.
In his senior year at New Haven High School, Graham played in seven games and caught 39 passes for 566 yards and six touchdowns. In his junior year, he caught 48 passes for 1,149 yards with 13 touchdowns.
Graham is looking forward to playing alongside fellow five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, and believes the pair of them bring something different to the table. He's said he sees similarities in his game with former Buckeye wideout Garrett Wilson.
“It feels great,” Graham said of his class being in line to continue the tradition of Ohio State producing elite receivers. “You obviously had Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, now Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka. Jeremiah (Smith) and I are bringing two completely different things to the table. He’s a bigger, more boundary-side receiver, more like an X-type. I’m more like a Z-type, more motion, stack receivers and stuff like that.”
Graham is one of the more talented prospects in Ohio State's 2024 recruiting class, though it may take a year or two before he has a clear path to the field. While Marvin Harrison Jr. more than likely will declare for the NFL Draft, Emeka Egbuka could return to OSU next season, and Carnell Tate, Brandon Inniss and perhaps Noah Rogers could be in line for bigger roles. That's not even factoring in Smith, who could be the rare type of player to force the issue in his first season.
But when Graham does see the field, his potential is massive.
