Ohio State has missed out on one of its defensive end targets for the 2025 class.
Four-star 2025 Illinois defensive end Christopher Burgess Jr. committed to Notre Dame on Saturday, choosing the Fighting Irish over Ohio State, Michigan and Alabama during the broadcast of the All-American Bowl on NBC.
Burgess visited OSU three times over the past six months, but the Chicago resident opted to stay closer to home in the end. Of course, in the NIL era of college football, it's foolish to ever say a recruitment is over until a prospect signs his National Letter of Intent, so it's possible OSU could still pursue the 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect between now and December.
Ohio State is still searching for its first defensive lineman commitment in the 2025 class. Top targets for the Buckeyes include Nasir Wyatt, Zahir Mathis, Elijah Griffin, London Merritt, Trent Wilson, Brandon Caesar and Darrion Smith.
